Since years, farmer with passion and responsible for everything related to the farm life - so to speak "the centerpiece" of the Flachenhof. In 1988 he inherited from his parents the land and laid down the foundation of the Flachenhof. Year after year, the farm has been extended and has developed into the special habitat which it is.
Thomas contributes to the preservation of the typical South Tyrolean landscape through the minimal use of machines. He manages by small creative details to give the Flachenhof its face – wherever you go you encounter his creative work.

"In 1990, I rode my pony from Chiemsee over the Alps to the Flachenhof. Together with my family I've built a riding stable. The species-appropriate treatment of animals and a riding style that goes easy on the horse are close to my heart. Our farm is a valuable home to us, our herd of horses and the rest of the animal crowd. My life: that is with people and their animals ..."
A portrait about me and my decision to live on a farm in South Tyrol was shot for "Land&Leben", which can be viewed in the media library of RAI Südtirol starting at TC 21:06 (german).
We need many helping hands to let the farm, the care of the guests and the riding lessons smoothly as before. Anna und Julia are supporting us actively in this. Some interns and friends of the family are also enjoying to lend a hand. Jean-Marc Poisson supports us with professional classic riding lessons, so that our hores stay trained and healthy.
Anna is our middle daughter, she works part-time on the farm and mainly takes care of the office, guest care, cleaning, horse riding lessons, Team Pony Concept, herb cultivation and whatever else comes up. Within the project "Schule am Bauernhof" she shows school classes and other children's groups (e.g. children's birthday parties) the yard. In the summer she organizes child care weeks with Giuseppe from Officine Vispa at the farm, which have great success every year. She is also a hiking guide, dog trainer, forest and wildlife pedagogue, cross-country guide, horse riding teacher and she has graduated in agricultural and agro-environmental sciences. Anna works part-time at Nature museum in Bolzano giving tours. She enjoys inspiring children to treat animals and nature with care. With her organizacional talent Anna manages our office, bookings and the riding lessons.
Our youngest daughter Julia is a trained confectioner and hotel manager. Julia does riding lessons for all ages, horse riding tours, Team Pony Concept, guest care and takes care of the farm products. In 2020 she completed the training as a Team Pony Concept (TPC) teacher and as a cross-country guide at the association VFS. Like Anna, she became a riding instructor in November 2022. Due to her inquisitive, open nature and her diverse interests, Julia is planning further courses in the areas of horse work, nature and people. She started a animal-physiotherapy-course in January. Julia is happy with her two dogs and a mule. After all her trips she now appreciates the down-to-earth nature of the mountains.
